At Darulbayan, we believe that real learning goes far beyond the four walls of a classroom. Recently, we took our students on a memorable trip to Newton Dee. This visit gave us the chance to connect our Arabic language lessons with important Islamic values such as inclusion, diversity, and showing respect to every person.

The trip gave our students a hands on chance to use their Arabic vocabulary outside of school. While walking around the farm, we spoke about the animals and the natural surroundings in Arabic, linking what we saw to the Islamic teaching of caring for all of creation. The children were excited to step inside the barns, where they saw cows and geese close up. These simple but joyful moments helped them pause and think about the beauty and wonder of the world Allah has created.

Another highlight of the day was talking about the importance of community. Newton Dee is a living example of inclusion, and we used this opportunity to remind students of the Islamic principles of diversity, kindness, and treating every person with dignity and respect.
After the walk, the students gathered indoors to reflect on their experiences. They completed writing tasks, turning what they had seen and felt into Arabic sentences. This helped them strengthen the new words they had learned and practice expressing their thoughts in another language.

Of course, every good trip needs some fun! The students shared snacks outdoors and laughed together while playing on the swings and see-saws in the snowy playground.
To show thanks for the kindness and hospitality we received, the students worked together to design colourful “Thank You” posters in both English and Arabic (Shukran Newton Dee). This thoughtful gesture was a touching way to end a day full of learning, faith, joy, and community spirit.
